What’s Included in a Brand Identity Package for Small Business Owners?

If you’ve been thinking about investing in professional branding, you’ve probably come across the term “brand identity package” more than once. But what’s actually included in a brand identity package for small business owners? And is it really worth investing in as a small business?

What's Included in a Brand Identity Package for Small Business Owners

My full brand package includes:

  • A Primary Logo, a Secondary Logo, and 3+ Additional Brand Marks
  • A Brand Color Palette

  • Your Choice of a Custom Illustration Suite or Pattern/Texture Suite
  • A 35+ Page Brand Style and Strategy Document
  • Business Card Design
  • Canva Brand Kit Setup
  • Brand Mockup Graphics
  • and a Brand Off-Boarding Packet

But before we dive deeper into each and what they can do for you, let’s break it down so you know exactly what you’re getting.

What’s Included in a Brand Identity Package for Small Business Owners?

Your Logo Suite

This is usually the first thing people think of when they hear “branding,” and yes, it’s a big part of it. But a professional logo suite is more than just one logo. It typically includes:

  • A primary logo (your main logo used most often)
  • A secondary logo (an alternate version for different layouts)
  • A submark or icon (a simplified version great for social profiles, favicons, and small applications)

Having all three means you’re covered no matter where your brand shows up.

A Curated Color Palette

Your brand colors do more than make things look pretty. They communicate your personality, attract the right clients, and create instant recognition over time.

A professional brand identity package for small business owners will include your full color palette with exact color codes (HEX for digital use, CMYK and, sometimes, Pantone for print) so your colors stay consistent everywhere your brand lives.

Typography System

Fonts carry so much personality, and the right combination can say a lot about your brand before anyone reads a single word.

Your typography system will typically include a heading font, a body font, and sometimes an accent font. You’ll also get guidance on licenses and how to use them so everything from your website to your proposals looks cohesive and intentional.

Brand Patterns, Illustrations, or Textures (Typically in a Full Package!)

Many brand identity packages also include a supporting pattern or texture, or brand illustration kit, which can add depth and visual interest to your brand. Think of it as a background element that makes your designs feel complete and polished rather than flat.

This isn’t included in every package, so it’s worth asking your designer upfront. For me, for example, I don’t include this deliverable in my mini packages, but I do in my full packages! Read more about the difference between my mini vs full brand packages here.

A Brand Style Guide

This is honestly one of the most valuable deliverables in the whole package and one that sometimes gets overlooked. Your brand style guide (also called brand guidelines) is a document that shows you how to use everything correctly, and it’s my favorite to create.

It covers things like how much clear space should surround your logo, which color combinations to use, how to apply your fonts, and what to avoid. When you hire a web designer, a social media manager, or a photographer down the road, you hand them this guide and your whole team is on the same page.

Brand Files in Multiple Formats

A professional brand identity package should come with your files in every format you need, including:

  • SVG and EPS vector files (for scalable, print-ready use)
  • PNG files with transparent backgrounds (for digital use)
  • PDF files and others upon request

If a designer only hands over a JPEG or a low-resolution file, that’s a red flag. You should walk away with a complete set of files that works across every context.

Here’s What I Include in a Full Brand Identity Package for Small Business Owners

Here’s exactly the type of magic what you get when we work together, and what each piece is actually there to do for you and your business.

A Primary Logo, a Secondary Logo, and 3+ Additional Brand Marks

  • Your primary logo is the one you’ll reach for most often. Your secondary logo gives you a polished alternate layout for places where the primary doesn’t quite fit. And your additional brand marks, think submarks, monograms, and icon variations, make sure your brand looks intentional and complete no matter where it shows up.

A Brand Color Palette

  • Your color palette is chosen strategically, not just because it looks pretty. The right colors speak directly to your dream client, communicate your personality at a glance, and create the kind of instant recognition that makes your brand memorable over time.

A Typography Suite with Accent Font

  • Your typography suite includes heading, body, and accent fonts that work together to create a cohesive, polished feel across every piece of content you put out. The accent font in particular adds that extra layer of personality that makes your brand feel layered and considered.

Your Choice of a Custom Illustration Suite or Pattern/Texture Suite

  • This is one of my favorite parts of the package because it’s what takes a brand from pretty to truly you. You get to choose between a set of custom illustrations designed specifically for your brand, or a pattern and texture suite that adds depth and visual interest to everything you create.

A 35+ Page Brand Style and Strategy Document

  • This is the piece that keeps your brand consistent long after our project wraps. Your brand style and strategy document covers how to use every element of your identity correctly, your brand voice, your ideal client, your positioning, and more.

Business Card Design

  • Your business card design is fully on-brand and print-ready, so you can show up to every networking event, market, or coffee chat with something that actually reflects the quality of your work.

Canva Brand Kit Setup

  • Creating content gets so much easier when your brand is already loaded and ready to go. Just share your login or add me to your team, and I’ll get your Canva Brand Kit all set up with your fonts, colors, and logos so every graphic you make from day one looks consistent and on-brand.

Brand Mockup Launch Graphics

  • These graphics are optimized for story and post format to share with your audience so they can immediately experience the new vibe and feel excited to work or purchase from you.

A Brand Off-Boarding Packet

  • The off-boarding packet is your official send-off into the world with your new brand. It covers everything you need to know about using and getting the most out of your files, so you feel confident and supported even after our project is complete.

So is Investing in a Brand Identity Design Package for Your Small Business Worth It?

For small business owners who are serious about growth, yes. A cohesive, professionally designed brand identity does two things at once: it builds trust with potential clients and it saves you time because you’re not scrambling to pull together visuals that don’t quite match every time you need something new.

When your brand looks put-together, you look put-together. And that matters more than most people realize.

If you’re ready to stop mashing things together and finally have a brand that looks as good as the work you do, a brand identity package is the place to start. Reach out to start making magic with us.
